Suluada in May: The Season at Full Width

May is the first full month of the wide schedule. The Antalya departure has all three of its days — Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday — and the Side departure does what it does the whole year through: it sails every day.

That is the practical difference between May and the month before it. April is the season opening; May is the season open. Everything else that changes is a matter of how the day feels, and that is worth being specific about.

The May Schedule, Exactly

From Side, every day. Hotel pickup falls in the 05:30–06:00 window across the Side–Manavgat band. Optional breakfast stop at Adrasan, paid at the local restaurant. The boat sails from Adrasan harbour at 09:40 and docks back at 16:00 — around 10 hours door to door, with the hotel drop after that. Minimum age 6. Full detail on the Suluada boat tour from Side.

From Antalya, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tuesday and Thursday run all year; Saturday is in the timetable from April to October, so May has the full three. Pickup is between 08:30 and 09:00 from central Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi, and the day comes to about 12 hours. Snorkelling masks and pool floats are included on this boat. What May Actually Gives You

Length of light, mostly. The early pickup that feels like the middle of the night in the shoulder months lands closer to the start of the day in May, and the evening after you get back is still a proper evening. For a trip that takes around 10 hours from Side, that matters more than most people expect: you lose a day to the boat, but you do not lose the day around it.

Deck conditions are usually the comfortable middle. Warm rather than punishing, cooler while the boat is moving, and staying out of the sun is a preference in May rather than a necessity. Guests who struggle with high-summer heat tend to be happiest in May and September.

The colour of the bay does not depend on the month — it depends on the sun and the surface. Light sand under shallow water reflects sunlight back up through the sea; when the sun is high and the water is flat, the bay reads as one sheet of turquoise. The Shape of a May Day

You are collected in the dark end of the morning, in the 05:30–06:00 window if you are travelling from the Side side, and the road leg west takes up the first part of the day. There is an optional breakfast stop at Adrasan before the boat, paid on the spot — worth it if you skipped the hotel buffet at that hour, skippable if you brought something with you.

At 09:40 the boat leaves Adrasan harbour and the day changes character completely. Swimming stops follow along the coast and at the island, including the sheltered cove of Domuz Bay and the pale sand of the twin beaches. The boat anchors near the island rather than tying up; where conditions allow, tender boats shuttle guests into the bay.

Lunch is cooked on board — grilled fish or chicken with pasta or rice, the day's Turkish mezes, a seasonal salad, then fruit and tea. Drinks at the bar are not included, so bring cash. The lunch, in detail if you want to know exactly what lands on the table.

What to Pack in May

• A light layer for the first hour. Early mornings are still cooler than the afternoon, and a moving deck adds wind.
• Sun protection you would use at midday. On the water the sun arrives twice — from above and off the surface.
• A hat and sunglasses. Both earn their place from May onwards.
• Towel, dry clothes, and cash for the bar.
• Everything else you plan to use. There is no shop on the island.

Who Travels in May, and What It Costs

May draws couples, photographers, walkers who came for the coast rather than the pool, and families travelling before the school-holiday rush. It also suits anyone doing more than one thing on their holiday — the boat day is long, but May evenings give you the rest of the day back.

The price is flat and does not move with the season: €40 per adult, €30 per child aged 4–10, infants 0–3 free, the same from every pickup point on the coast.
