Suluada in April: The Month the Season Opens

2026-07-26 · 5 min read

April is the month the timetable changes. From April to October the Antalya departure adds Saturday to its week; before April it sails Tuesday and Thursday only. The Side departure is unaffected — it runs every day, all year.

That is the honest reason this month deserves its own page. Nobody can tell you what the sea will look like on a particular April morning, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can tell you exactly is which boats sail, how the day is shaped at the front end of the season, and what belongs in your bag.

The April Schedule, Exactly

From Side, every day. Hotel pickup falls in the 05:30–06:00 window across the Side–Manavgat band. There is an optional breakfast stop at Adrasan, paid at the local restaurant. The boat sails from Adrasan harbour at 09:40 and docks back at 16:00. Door to door, plan for about 10 hours. Minimum age on this departure is 6. Everything is set out on the Suluada boat tour from Side.

From Antalya, three days a week in April. Tuesday and Thursday run all year. Saturday is added from April through October — April is the first month it appears. Pickup is between 08:30 and 09:00 from central Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi, and the day runs to around 12 hours. Snorkelling masks and pool floats are included on this boat. Details on the Suluada boat tour from Antalya.

Check your travel dates against those days before you build a plan around them. If your week in Antalya contains none of them, the Side boat sails every day and the price is identical from either side of the coast. We set the two departures against each other in from Side vs from Antalya.

How an April Day Feels on the Water

Early season has a character of its own. Mornings are cooler than the middle of summer, especially on a moving deck before the sun is properly up, and most guests are glad of a layer for the first hour. By the time the boat reaches the island the day has usually warmed into something comfortable rather than fierce — you can sit in open sun without hunting for shade, which is not always true later in the year.

The first swim of the season is a wake-up call rather than a gentle slide. Water warms more slowly than air, and April is early. Most people go in anyway, because the colour is the whole point and the colour is already there: light sand under shallow water, doing what it does whenever the sun is out. The first swim of the day describes that moment properly.

Sea state is the real variable. Conditions move around more at the front of the season than in high summer, and in rough sea the harbour authority can stop departures altogether. If that happens you are rebooked or refunded — never left holding a booking for a boat that did not sail. Our guide to what happens if weather cancels explains the process, and Suluada weather and sea conditions covers what shapes a day on this coast.

One more April specific: the boat anchors near the island rather than tying up, and where conditions allow, tender boats shuttle guests into the bay. On a settled day that short crossing is the part people remember.

What to Pack for Suluada in April

The full list lives in what to bring on a Suluada boat tour, and packing the perfect boat bag if you would rather pack once and stop thinking about it.

Who Travels in April

April suits people who want the island more than they want a tan. Couples on shoulder-season breaks. Photographers, who get clean light and a bay with room in it. Travellers who find high-summer decks hard work. And anyone whose holiday simply falls in April and who would rather see Suluada than not.

Families can do this month comfortably — the minimum age on the Side departure is 6, and children aged 4–10 pay €30 wherever they are collected — but pack for a cool morning and expect a brisk first swim. Suluada with kids has the practical detail, and life jackets are available on request for anyone who wants one.

Booking an April Day

The price does not move with the season: €40 per adult, €30 per child aged 4–10, infants 0–3 free, flat from every pickup point on the coast. You book free online and pay on the tour day. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.

Lunch is cooked on board and included — grilled fish or chicken with pasta or rice, the day's Turkish mezes, a seasonal salad, then fruit and tea afterwards. Drinks at the bar are paid separately.

Free hotel transfer applies across the Side–Manavgat band and to central Antalya, Lara, Kemer and Beldibi. For the Belek and Alanya bands, Kundu, Konyaaltı, Göynük, Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova we confirm your pickup individually — send us your hotel and we will give you a straight answer. Staying at Adrasan, Olympos, Çıralı, Finike, Demre or Kaş? There is no transfer product for that stretch; guests meet the boat at Adrasan harbour.

Everything is itemised on the prices page and walked through in the ultimate Suluada guide. If April is only one of your options, the best time to visit Suluada weighs the months against each other, and Suluada in May is the next month along.

Frequently Asked

Is April a good time to visit Suluada?+

Yes, if you want the island rather than a beach day in high heat. April mornings are cooler, the light is clean, and the bay has room in it. The trade-off is honest: the sea is early-season, the first swim is bracing, and conditions move around more than in high summer.

Does the Suluada boat run in April?+

Yes. The Side departure runs every day, all year. From Antalya the boat sails Tuesday and Thursday all year, and Saturday is added from April to October — April is the first month with three sailing days from that side.

Is the sea warm enough to swim at Suluada in April?+

Most guests swim, but the first entry is bracing rather than gentle — water warms more slowly than air, and April is early in the season. Life jackets are available on request, non-swimmers are welcome, and nobody is under any pressure to get in.

What should I wear for a Suluada boat tour in April?+

Swimwear under normal clothes, plus a warm layer and something windproof for the early start on a moving deck. Add strong sun protection — cooler air disguises how much sun comes back off the water — and a towel with dry clothes for the trip home.
