The Ultimate Suluada Guide: The Island, The Boat Tours, The Real Numbers

Suluada is a small rocky island off Adrasan, at the western end of Antalya province. There is no shop — nothing to buy once you are there. What it has is water: a light-sand bay under turquoise so bright it looks retouched in photographs, framed by pine-clad cliffs that fall straight into the sea.

That contrast is where the nickname comes from. Guests started calling it the Turkish Maldives, and it stuck. The comparison is about colour, not scale. Suluada is a rock you can take in with a single look, and the appeal is precisely that: a whole shoreline within reach of one afternoon's swimming.

A few features are worth knowing by name before you go — the island's twin beaches, the Love Cave in the rock face, and Domuz Bay, a sheltered cove on the route out. Boats anchor off the island rather than tying up; where conditions allow, tender boats shuttle guests in to the bay. On days when the sea says otherwise, you swim from the deck instead, and the water is no less clear for it.

Short version: if you are staying between Side and Manavgat, take the Side departure — it sails every day. If you are in Antalya, Kemer or Beldibi, take the Antalya departure, but check the day first, because it is not daily.

The departure from Side collects guests from their hotels between 05:30 and 06:00 in air-conditioned vehicles and runs every day of the week. Door to door it is about 10 hours. There is an optional breakfast stop at Adrasan around 08:30, paid directly at the local restaurant. The minimum age on this departure is 6.

The departure from Antalya has a gentler start — pickup between 08:30 and 09:00, with round-trip transfer from central Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi — and runs around 12 hours in total. It sails Tuesday and Thursday all year, plus Saturday from April to October. Snorkelling masks and pool floats are included, along with marine insurance and harbour fees, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.

This is the Side timeline — the one most guests sail.

• 05:30–06:00 — hotel pickup in an air-conditioned vehicle. Early, and we do not pretend otherwise; it is what turns a far-western island into a comfortable day trip.
• Around 08:30 — optional breakfast stop in Adrasan, payable at the restaurant.
• 09:40 — the boat casts off from Adrasan harbour.
• Late morning to mid-afternoon — swimming breaks at Suluada and the surrounding bays, including Domuz Bay, with lunch cooked and served on board.
• 16:00 — the boat docks back at Adrasan; the drive to your hotel follows.

From Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi the shape is the same but the clock shifts: pickup runs 08:30–09:00 and the full day is around 12 hours. Either way, the water time is the same — the boat is out from 09:40 until 16:00, and that is the part people actually remember.

We publish pickup windows and never fixed per-hotel times. Roads, traffic and the order of the route decide your exact minute, and your driver's time is confirmed with your booking. Lunch is cooked and served on the boat, not handed over in a box. You choose grilled fish or chicken, served with pasta or rice, alongside the day's Turkish mezes — stuffed vine leaves, stuffed peppers, lentil patties — and a seasonal salad. Afterwards there is seasonal fruit and Turkish tea. Drinks from the bar are not included and are paid on board.

The ticket covers the two-way hotel transfer, the cruise itself, guidance — on the Side departure in English, German, Russian and Turkish — every swimming break, and the lunch above. The Antalya departure additionally includes snorkelling masks and pool floats, marine insurance and harbour fees.

Not included, so that nothing surprises you on the day: the Adrasan breakfast, all drinks, personal beach gear, photographs and any extras. There is no shop on the island, so anything you want on the sand travels with you.

One price, the whole coast: €40 per adult, €30 per child aged 4–10, infants 0–3 free. It makes no difference whether you are collected in Side, Antalya or Kemer — the fare is flat, because it is the same boat.

Booking is free online. You reserve your seats, receive a confirmation e-mail and a printable ticket, and pay on the tour day. There is no prepayment, no deposit and no card charge at the moment you book. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure, and if the harbour authority stops sailings in rough sea, you are rebooked or refunded. That is the whole policy.

Pack for a beach with no infrastructure: swimwear worn under your clothes, a towel, high-factor sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, water and shoes you do not mind getting wet. There is no shop on the island. A dry bag or a zip pouch for your phone is the single most useful thing you can bring, and cash is worth having for the breakfast stop and the on-board bar.

Now the honest part. The Side departure starts before sunrise in high summer, and no amount of marketing makes 05:30 feel late — if your holiday is built on slow mornings, the Antalya days may suit you better. The Antalya departure does not sail every day. The minimum age from Side is 6. Landings on the island depend on the sea, not on our schedule. And in rough conditions the harbour authority can stop departures altogether, which is a decision no operator overrides.
