Suluada in July: Peak Season, and How to Do It Well

July is peak season on this coast. July is the month the water asks least of you, the deck is at its most demanding, and the weeks fill up. None of that changes the timetable — but it should change how far ahead you plan.

The July Schedule — and Why to Book Early

From Antalya, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tuesday and Thursday all year; Saturday from April to October, which includes July. The two departures matter more in July than in any other month, because a fixed holiday week and a three-day timetable do not always line up. July is when the coast is fullest, and a day trip that runs on fixed departures rewards people who decide early. How the Schedule Beats the Heat

The 05:30–06:00 pickup is the least popular sentence on this website and the most useful thing about a July booking. Leaving that early puts the road leg behind you before the day gets heavy, and it gets the boat out of Adrasan harbour at 09:40 — so you are swimming at the island through the best part of the day rather than arriving into it.

On the boat, the routine that works in July is simple: swim, dry off in the shade, repeat. The moving deck brings a breeze that flatters the temperature and hides the sun, which is why guests who feel fine all morning are the ones who regret it in the evening.

• Stay covered between swims — a light long-sleeved layer beats reapplying cream too late.
• Hat, sunglasses, and shade in the middle hours.
• Drink steadily. Lunch is included; drinks at the bar are not, so bring cash for the day.
• Rash vests for children, who will otherwise be in and out of the water without a break.

What July Gives You in Return

The water. This is the month the bay looks most like the photographs, because the colour comes from high sun over shallow water and pale sand — and July has that in abundance. The twin beaches throw the light back up through the sea, the boat anchors near the island rather than tying up, and where conditions allow tender boats shuttle guests into the bay.

You also get the long swim window that makes the early start worthwhile. The stops through the day include the sheltered cove of Domuz Bay and the island's own bay, with the Love Cave, one of the island's named features, seen from the water. Lunch is cooked on board: grilled fish or chicken with pasta or rice, the day's Turkish mezes, a seasonal salad, then fruit and tea afterwards.

Who July Suits — and Who It Does Not

July suits families on school holidays, confident swimmers, and anyone whose priority is the water rather than the temperature on deck. The minimum age on the Side departure is 6; children aged 4–10 pay €30 and infants 0–3 are free. Life jackets are available on request and non-swimmers are welcome — nobody has to get in.

It suits less well anyone who struggles in strong sun, or who wants a short outing. Ten hours from Side and around twelve from Antalya is a full day in July conditions, and we would rather say so now than have you find out at four in the afternoon.
