SULUADA BOAT TOURS · TURKISH MALDIVES

Side by Side

Suluada vs Phaselis

Two very different days on the same coastline. Phaselis is an ancient Lycian harbour city between Kemer and Tekirova, where pines, ruins and three small bays sit side by side — you can swim a few steps from a street that was paved two thousand years ago. Suluada is a small rocky island off the Adrasan coast, the one people call the Turkish Maldives, and it is reached only by boat.

The honest split: Phaselis is history you can walk through, with a swim attached. Suluada is a full day at sea, where the water is the entire point. One is a stop. The other is the day.

Our Suluada boat tour from Side runs every day and takes about 10 hours door to door — pickup between 05:30 and 06:00, the boat sails from Adrasan harbour at 09:40 and docks back at 16:00. Further west, the Antalya departure sails Tuesday and Thursday all year, plus Saturday from April to October. The price is the same either way: €40 per adult, €30 per child aged 4–10, infants free, paid on the tour day. Details on our price page.

What Phaselis Gives You

Phaselis is an archaeological site on the sea. The remains of the ancient city — a paved main street, an aqueduct, a theatre cut into the hillside — spread across a small wooded peninsula with bays on either side. Shade from the pines, calm shallow water, ruins in your photographs. It suits travellers who like a swim with a side of history, and you decide how much of the day it takes.

Because it is on land, it is flexible. You arrive when you like, stay as long as you like, and leave when you are done. It is also close to the resort strip: Kemer, Tekirova, Beldibi and Çamyuva are all in the neighbourhood.

What Phaselis is not: open sea. The bays are beautiful, but they belong to the same coast your hotel sits on.

What the Island Day Gives You

Suluada is a destination, not a stop. Every cruise sails from Adrasan harbour, past pine-clad cliffs, out to an island with two beaches and water that reads like a colour chart. Boats anchor near the island; where conditions allow, tender boats shuttle guests into the bay. On the route there is Domuz Bay, a sheltered cove, and at the island itself the Love Cave and the twin beaches.

Lunch is cooked on board: your choice of grilled fish or chicken with pasta or rice, daily Turkish mezes, a seasonal salad, then fruit and Turkish tea. Drinks from the bar are paid separately. Swimming breaks are the spine of the day, not an extra. And there is no shop on the island, so bring whatever you need with you.

Ruins in the Morning or Sea All Day?

  • You want ruins, shade and a flexible outing: Phaselis. History with a swim built in.
  • You want the swimming to be the point of the day: Suluada. The island is the reason the day exists.
  • You are staying in Kemer or Beldibi: Phaselis is on your doorstep — and the Antalya departure collects from central Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi on its sailing days. In Tekirova, Çamyuva or Kiriş we confirm your pickup individually — message us first.
  • You are staying around Side or Manavgat: Suluada is the stronger choice, because the daily Side departure turns a far-western island into an easy day.
  • You have two free days: do both. They compete for nothing.

Getting There, Honestly

Phaselis you reach on your own or on a local excursion. It is a roadside site with a car park, close to the Kemer strip, and the logistics are simple.

Suluada needs a boat, and that is the part worth planning. Hotel pickup runs between 05:30 and 06:00 in the Side–Manavgat band and between 08:30 and 09:00 for the Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi departure. We publish those windows and confirm your exact time individually — we never print fixed per-hotel times, because a pickup route changes with the guests on it. Guests staying on the west coast around Adrasan, Olympos or Çıralı can meet the boat at the harbour instead; message us and we will arrange the details.

FAQ

Is Suluada better than Phaselis?+

They answer different questions, so the honest answer is: it depends what you want from the day. Suluada is the better swimming day — an island, open sea, hours in turquoise water. Phaselis is the better history day — an ancient city you can walk through, with calm bays between the ruins.

Can I visit both Suluada and Phaselis on the same trip?+

Yes, easily — they are separate days rather than rivals. Suluada is a full-day boat trip, about 10 hours from Side and about 12 hours from Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi, so give it its own day and keep Phaselis for a slower morning.

Which is better with children?+

Phaselis is the easier option for very small children, while Suluada is the bigger adventure for children who can handle a long day. The Side departure lists a minimum age of 6. Children aged 4–10 pay €30, infants 0–3 travel free, and younger children on board must be supervised on deck at all times.

How much does the Suluada boat tour cost?+

€40 per adult, €30 per child aged 4–10, and infants 0–3 travel free. It is one flat price from every pickup point on the coast, and you pay on the tour day rather than online. Phaselis is an archaeological site with its own entry arrangements, and we do not quote prices for anything we do not operate.
