Suluada vs Manavgat River Cruise

The river cruise is the easiest boat day in the Side region. Flat-decked boats move slowly along the Manavgat river between reed beds and green banks, usually paired with a visit to the Manavgat waterfall and a stop at the riverside market. Shade, calm water, no swell, no long drive.

It suits guests who want something relaxed rather than an expedition: travellers who do not love open water, grandparents, families with toddlers, anyone with an early flight the next morning. You are near your hotel the whole time — if you are staying around Manavgat or Side, it is practically on your doorstep.

What it is not: a swimming day. The river cruise is about scenery, the waterfall and the bazaar rather than hours in the water, and no river gives you a turquoise island bay. Operators run their own routes and timings, and we do not quote details for trips we do not run.

Suluada is a sea day with a destination at the end of it. Every cruise leaves from Adrasan harbour, runs along pine-clad cliffs, and anchors near an island with a white sandy bay, twin beaches and the strongest turquoise on this stretch of coast. Where conditions allow, tender boats shuttle guests into the bay. The route also includes the sheltered cove of Domuz Bay and the Love Cave.

Swimming breaks at Suluada and the surrounding bays are the structure of the day. Lunch is cooked on board — grilled fish or chicken with pasta or rice, daily Turkish mezes, seasonal salad, then fruit and Turkish tea. Drinks from the bar are paid separately. There is an optional breakfast stop at Adrasan around 08:30, payable at the local restaurant, and no shop on the island, so bring what you need.

• You want to swim in clear sea water: Suluada. A river cruise cannot offer that, and it does not pretend to.
• You want a short, calm, shaded outing: the Manavgat river cruise. Low effort, close to your hotel, easy on small children and older travellers.
• You only have one free day: Suluada. It is the day people remember, and the daily Side departure means you can pick any date.
