Suluada for Couples: A Slow Day on Fast Water

2026-07-26 · 5 min read

Suluada is a good day for two people because it takes you somewhere you cannot drive to. No car park, no promenade, no shop. Just a small rocky island off the Adrasan coast, a bay the colour of a swimming pool, and a boat that anchors nearby for a few hours.

That is the appeal. The trade-off is honest and worth stating first: it is a long day, and from Side it starts before dawn. If your idea of a good holiday morning is a slow breakfast, this is not your day. If you want one afternoon out of a fortnight that you will both still talk about at home, keep reading.

Why Suluada Works for Two

Most couples' excursions are built around doing things. Suluada is built around stopping. Once the boat drops anchor, the day has no schedule you have to keep — you swim, you dry off on deck, you eat, you swim again. Nobody is selling you anything, because there is no shop on the island. Whatever you want for the day travels with you.

The other thing that helps is the shape of the day. You are on a boat, not in a queue. The route takes in swimming stops at the island and in the bays around it, including the sheltered cove of Domuz Bay, and the Love Cave, one of the island's named features, which everyone photographs from the water. There is a lot of looking involved and very little organising.

Which Departure Suits You

Every boat sails from Adrasan harbour. Your hotel only decides the road leg in front of it, and the price is the same either way.

The Suluada boat tour from Side runs every day, which makes it the easy one to fit around the rest of a holiday. Hotel pickup falls in the 05:30–06:00 window across the Side region. There is an optional breakfast stop at Adrasan, paid at the local restaurant. The boat sails at 09:40 and docks back at 16:00, so plan for about 10 hours door to door. Minimum age on this departure is 6.

The Suluada boat tour from Antalya gives you a gentler start — pickup is between 08:30 and 09:00 from central Antalya, Kemer and Beldibi — but it does not sail every day. It runs Tuesday and Thursday all year, plus Saturday from April to October, and takes around 12 hours in total. Snorkel masks and pool floats are included on this boat. If you are choosing between the two, we compared them properly in from Side vs from Antalya.

For the Belek band, the Alanya band, Kundu, Konyaaltı, Göynük, Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova we confirm your pickup individually rather than promising a blanket transfer. If you are staying at Adrasan, Olympos, Çıralı, Finike, Demre or Kaş there is no transfer product at all — you meet the boat at Adrasan harbour. Either way, send us your hotel and we will tell you exactly how it works.

Where the Quiet Moments Are

Every boat day has a rhythm, and knowing it lets you pick your moments instead of following the crowd.

What It Costs and What Is Included

One flat price from every pickup point on the coast: €40 per adult, €30 per child aged 4–10, infants 0–3 free. Side costs the same as Kemer, which costs the same as Manavgat. You book free online and pay on the tour day — there is no prepayment — and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure.

Lunch is cooked on board and included: grilled fish or chicken with pasta or rice, the day's Turkish mezes, a seasonal salad, then fruit and tea. Drinks at the bar are not included, so bring cash for those. Life jackets are available on request and non-swimmers are welcome — nobody has to get in the water to enjoy the bay. Everything is itemised on the prices page.

Booking It Without Fuss

Pick your departure, choose a date, and reserve online without paying. We confirm the pickup arrangement for your hotel, you pay the crew on the day, and that is the whole process. If the harbour authority stops sailings because of rough sea, you are rebooked or refunded.

The one decision worth making carefully is the date, because the colour of the bay depends more on light and sea state than on temperature. The best time to visit Suluada covers that. Then set the alarm, accept that the first hour is early, and let the rest of the day be slow.

Frequently Asked

Is Suluada a good day trip for couples?+

Yes, if you want a slow day rather than a busy one. Once the boat anchors there is no schedule to keep, no shop on the island and nothing being sold on the sand — you swim, eat lunch on board and look at the water. The trade-off is the length of the day and, from Side, a pickup between 05:30 and 06:00.

Which Suluada departure is better for a couple?+

The Side departure if you want flexibility, because it runs every day and takes about 10 hours door to door. The Antalya departure if you want a later start — pickup is 08:30 to 09:00 — but it sails Tuesday and Thursday all year plus Saturday from April to October, so it needs planning around. Both boats sail from Adrasan harbour and both cost the same.

How much is a Suluada boat tour for two people?+

€40 per adult, so €80 for two, at the same flat rate from every pickup point on the coast. You book free online and pay on the tour day, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before departure. Lunch on board is included; drinks at the bar are not.

Is there anywhere private on the island?+

Not private, but there are quiet moments: the crossing out before the sun is high, the first minutes after the anchor drops, and the hour after lunch when the deck goes still. The boat anchors near the island and, where conditions allow, tender boats shuttle guests into the bay.
